Pyronale Chronicle

Looking back on the Pyronale 2010

3rd and 4th September on the Maifeld arena at the Olympic Stadium

The 5th Pyronale saw a record number of visitors. A total of 61,500 spellbound spectators watched the two evenings of competition in which six internationally recognised teams from Switzerland, Slovakia, Italy, Greece, South Korea and Germany took part this year.
Once again the passionate pyrotechnicians demonstrated the fine art of fireworks, inspiring and fascinating spectators with imaginative ideas, sparkling creations, breathtaking effects, magnificent plays of light and colours and sophisticated choreography.
The jury, which judges the shows consisting of obligatory and free style displays in accordance with the rules of the competition, had a difficult time choosing the overall winner given the outstanding quality of the displays this year again.
The spectators had an easier time each evening choosing as their favourite what in their eyes was the most impressive show, without judging it according to formal criteria.
And this was the result:
The Gold Cup was won by the ambitious and attractive Swiss Bugano team, which in 2008 had already been on the winner’s podium at the Pyronale, after coming 2nd (Silver) and being voted winner of the day by the spectators.

The Silver Cup went to the Privatex Pyro team from Slovakia, which was also the spectators’ favourite on Friday.

3rd place and Bronze was won by Kanellopoulos Fireworks of Greece.

There was resounding applause for the South Koreans from the Hanwha Corporation. The gigantic, colourful and imaginative sky spectacle earned them the spectators' prize on Saturday.
Each evening ended with an extravagant laser and fireworks show, staged by FLASH ART and displaying the double angle of the logo of our principal sponsor Citroën on the “Glockenturm” (Bell Tower) of the Olympic Stadium. FLASH ART was once again responsible for the logistics of preparing the venue and supporting and coordinating the teams taking part.

The Pyronale 2012 will take place on 7. and 8. September. Tickets are already on sale.
The 2012 show will be a spectacle of spectacles when all the winners of the Gold Cup of the last 6 years compete against each other.
